The Krimml waterfalls The Krimml waterfalls (at 308m high, the highest in Austria) are Austria's only natural monument that have a European diploma: the Conservation Diploma was awarded in 1967 for the first time by the Council of Europe. Since then it has been extended every five years.
The Waterfall Path: A10 minute walk from the carpark, will take you to the first and most impressive waterfall. From this point a scenic path leads to the second and third waterfall and further to the Krimmler Achental, which is a wide flat valley high in the mountains which collects the waters for these magnificient falls. A minibus service is also available up to the top of the waterfalls. |

Motor Museum At present, the motor museum displays more than 130 exhibits from the 50's to the 70's spread over approximatly 900 m². A special example is the "Gletscherdrachen", (Glacier Dragon) the first subterranean, glacier, track railway.
A part of the museum is dedicated to the Volkswagen, because the pioneer of one of the most popular cars in Austria - Ferdinand Porsche - had his home in Zell am See/Schüttdorf. |

Lamprechts cave The "Lamprechts cave" with a total length of nearly 51 kilometers is one of the biggest grotto systems in Europe. In 1993 speleologists (cave explorers) from Poland discovered a further entrance to the cave system at a height of 2,178 meters. Cave systems with these sort of double entrances / exits have a special name, "Durchgangshöhle" or "through caves". With a vertical differance of over 1000m between these entrances, the "Lamprechts cave" is the biggest of its type in the world.
In the part of the cave open to visitors, you walk nearly 700 meters into and over 70 meters up into the mountain on well prepared footpaths. There you will come to a viewing gallery where you will see the impressively illuminated main cave.

Salzburg zoo The Salzburg zoo hosts over 400 animals - from the African rhinoceros to the European dwarf mouse. Free-roaming bearded vultures can be seen circling overhead. There is also a petting zoo. |
